Everon in the 2022 BILANZ asset manager ranking

Media Release
by Brice Zanetti, CFA

In the BILANZ asset manager ranking, Everon received the title of Asset Manager of the Year over twelve months. The ranking assessed 120 real client portfolios from 34 asset managers.

This article dates from February 2022 and describes the situation at that time. Everon has been authorised as a wealth manager under FinIA since 17 March 2023 and is today an independent Multi-Family Office; as a multi-family office, the Swiss 5 Group is an important partner for our portfolio management.

Everon received the title of ‘Asset Manager of the Year’ over twelve months in the asset manager ranking compiled by BILANZ, and took second place over 24 months. In the conservative risk class, Everon holds first place over twelve months.

(Zurich) In the firstfive ranking list of December 2020, Everon already held second place in the balanced risk class over twelve months in the Top Performer category. That is firstfive’s own periodic ranking list, not the BILANZ ranking. The asset manager ranking is compiled every year by financial services provider firstfive on behalf of BILANZ. The 2022 ranking assessed 120 real client portfolios from 34 asset managers, with the calendar year 2021 as the reporting period. Everon appears in three places:

  • First place, ‘Asset Manager of the Year’, 12 months, 95.59 out of 100 points
  • First place, conservative risk class, 12 months, Conservative CHF strategy, Sharpe ratio 2.45, performance 13.42 percent
  • Second place, ‘Asset Manager of the Year’, 24 months, 77.16 points

For the ‘Asset Manager of the Year’ award, firstfive assesses strategies across three risk classes, with a maximum of 100 points.

For CEO Florian Rümmelein, the ranking confirms the investment strategy Everon pursues. Everon collaborated with the Swiss 5 Group family office to develop the strategies, which it is now making available digitally. ‘This strategy sees Everon pursue a “multi-factor investing” approach based on quantifiable data and access to company data,’ says Rümmelein. ‘The final investment decision, based on technological parameters, is made by our investment committee, and the technology puts this into practice accordingly,’ he adds.

The systematic investment approach excludes human emotions. ‘2020 and 2021 were highly eventful years that often called for fast, pragmatic reactions,’ adds Jonas Bächinger, the company’s co-founder. ‘The strategy with the highest proportion of equities generated a return of 38.5 percent in 2021.’ This figure comes from Everon’s own analysis and is not part of the firstfive assessment.

Private banking from CHF 30,000

Everon launched in 2019 with the goal of democratising private banking. ‘We believe that most private banking services can be digitalised, making them cheaper and enabling a broader audience to access them,’ says Bächinger. While the minimum investment for private banking is normally half a million to a million, Everon’s wealth management starts from CHF 30,000. All its processes can be handled via the app, but there is always the option of getting in touch with the team, too. ‘However, our customers generally like being independent and feel very much at home in the world of finance, so personal enquiries are the exception,’ says Bächinger.

The all-in fee for wealth management is 0.7 percent, and 0.35 percent for custodian banking services. ‘Our client assets are growing at a rate of 25 percent a month,’ says Rümmelein.

No forecasts

Everon will continue to work on improving the overall client experience. ‘It is not possible to give a concrete forecast for 2022; that is hard to do with a systematic, quantitative approach,’ says Rümmelein. ‘The topics of inflation and interest rate rises, or any changes in expectations, are in the foreground: they present both risks and opportunities.’
