Limited Partner (LP)

Limited Partners (LPs) are the capital providers in a Private Markets fund. They contribute the committed capital and are liable only up to the amount of their investment. LPs have no influence over operational investment decisions and receive distributions from realisations carried out by the General Partner.

At a glance

01

LPs bear economic risk up to the amount of their Commitment, without the ability to intervene operationally in the fund.

Typical LPs include institutional investors, family offices, pension funds, and qualified private investors.

Frequently asked questions

LPs typically receive quarterly reports on portfolio performance and valuations, as well as annual financial statements. Extended information rights can be negotiated individually in the Limited Partnership Agreement. An LP Advisory Committee with representatives of major investors may provide additional oversight.
