FINMA Licence
FINMA Licence is the official authorisation granted by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, without which no independent asset manager may operate on a commercial basis in Switzerland. Obtaining a licence requires demonstrating sound organisation, adequate capital, irreproachable conduct, and affiliation with a Supervisory Organisation (FinIA Art. 5 et seq.).

Mandatory for all independent asset managers since 1 January 2020 (FinIA Art. 5).
Applications are submitted to FINMA; prior approval from the Supervisory Organisation is required.
Without a valid licence, commencing business is prohibited; FINMA may order liquidation.
