FINMA Licence

FINMA Licence is the official authorisation granted by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, without which no independent asset manager may operate on a commercial basis in Switzerland. Obtaining a licence requires demonstrating sound organisation, adequate capital, irreproachable conduct, and affiliation with a Supervisory Organisation (FinIA Art. 5 et seq.).

Without a valid licence, commencing business is prohibited; FINMA may order liquidation.

The process typically takes several months. FINMA reviews the applicant's organisation, capital adequacy, risk management, and the fitness of responsible persons. Submitting complete documentation and affiliating with a recognised Supervisory Organisation in advance significantly accelerates the process.
